The hazelnut is one of the most unusual nuts. They're grown only a few places on earth, but we're lucky enough to grow them locally in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia. Hazelnuts make a great addition to biscotti and shortbread or just sprinkle a handful of crushed hazelnuts on your vegetables for a nice crunch. They are rich in fiber, folate and vitamin E and are also gluten free.
